How would you describe/rate your experience working with the ABV staff in the USA? I would said it was easy, great communication, always answered emails prompt. Explained things really well, lots of reading material was provided. Overall i was say A+
How was the local ABV Director and the support provided at the orphanage? My Local ABV Contact Elizabeth and Nelson were amazing, very accommodating and always available for me. They made me feel safe and at home since first day l arrived.
hat was your favorite memory of this trip? The Children, looking at their smiles and when they pray for me. It was one or the most amazing moment of my life. I never had 50+ children do a circle put me inside touch me with their hands and praying for me all at once. Priceless; Just breath taking
What was the most difficult thing you experienced? Visiting some of the homes/Villages where this children’s came from. They literally had nothing. It was so painful to see so much poverty in one single place. Life is not fair
What was the one thing you wished you were better prepared for? USD Currency .. Tanzania is cash only so difficult to use credit card and they don’t change any USD bills younger than 2006 because they can’t verified the authenticity of the bill.
Any tips for future volunteers… bring little small earring for the girls, chapstick, Vaseline, underwear, toothbrush, toothpaste, Dictionary English to English, enough memory card for your videos and pictures. If taking safari bring a good camera and binoculars to see animal from a far distance. Extra battery for your phone; Children movies and music ; a good DVD portable player and speaker to play music at center.
Testimonial: Everyone want to know about my time in Africa. But no words can’t describe what l experience and felt; It was more than l dreamed of, more of an education for my mind & soul, relaxing and yet heartbreaking. It was Humble, Enlightening, Enriching and uplifting. It further my inner self, I was never so happy. I Can’t wait to be back, working with those children was a joy for me and a real privilege, Overall a blessing ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
