What was your favorite memory of this trip? One day we got out of the can and one of the children raced towards one of our group. He braced himself as the child blasted into his arms. They twirled around in a smiling embrace.
What was the most surprising thing? Belize was not as economically depressed as I thought. I was expecting garbage, graffiti and really run down areas and no hot water!
What was the the most difficult things I experienced? Balancing pur play time with the children and not upsetting their routine or upsetting the caregivers.
Any tips for future volunteers… (clothing, travel, personal items, donations, sightseeing etc)
Keep a balance between work and play. Do not exchange money before going to Belize. (You get better exchange when you arrive) The center appreciates cash donations. For sightseeing
Cayes and barter for a trip there.
Personal Paragraph (ABV Program Testimonial):
The children will capture your heart. The staff appreciated our help. The director made us feel welcome and valued. The people in Belize love their country and wanted us to enjoy it as well.
How would you describe/rate your experience working with the ABV staff in the USA & in Belize?
