My Favorite memory A day the children at the orphanage visited a secondary school. Each student was with a child + they had a small party and a play prepared for the kids. All the kids were so happy that day and received a lot of attention and love from the high schoolers.
I was surprised that by all the beautiful sights in Chile. Some of the most amazing sights I have ever seen have been here.
What was the most difficult thing you experienced? not being able to communicate correctly for effectively in Spanish
My best lesson received be open to new experiences. Don’t be afraid to do things you have never done before.
Any tips for future volunteers… (clothing, travel, personal items, donations, sightseeing etc)
Bring plenty of warm clothing in Fall/Winter months in So America. Most places do not have heat + it gets cold after dark.
Donations: toilet papers, paper towels, baby wipes, diapers, new clothing for older children.
Personal Paragraph (ABV Program Testimonial):
I loved working with the kids. I think they did more for me then I did for them. I wish I had more time in Chile.
How would you describe your accommodation (host family)
Very good. Family was very kids. Food was good and there was always plenty to eat.
Are you willing to speak to other potential ABV volunteers? Yes
