My Favorite Memory: The children running up to greet me every day at school.
I was surprised that…. How smoothly and efficiently Abroaderview operates. (not that I expected less)
The most difficult thing I experienced was…. Leaving the children at the end of the program – I wanted to stay there and help.
My best received lesson… Go in with an open mind.
Tip for future volunteers… (Clothing, travel, personal items, donations, sightseeing etc) Go on a safari and go to Diani beach. Buy pens and pencils for the children.
Personal Paragraph (Testimonial):
Honestly, Abroaderview could not have done a better job with this. From the emails telling me about where I was going to being picked up at the airport and feeling relieved after traveling alone and not speaking to anyone for 36 hours. The time while volunteering was as life-changing as I would expect, but so much more. The children were incredibly nice and happy to have someone there. Overall – perfect. Abroaderview offers life-changing trips at affordable prices. THANK YOU so much for my time.
How would you rate your experience working with the ABV staff, both in the USA, and in-country? As perfect as I could imagine a volunteer experience to be.
How would you describe your accommodation ( ie: host family, on-site, shared housing etc) Host family was extremely nice, food at the school was good, however others were shocked at my taste, the housing was comfortable and welcoming.
Are you willing to speak to other potential ABV volunteers? YES
