My Favorite Memory: was seeing the smiles on the students faces everyday and how much fun they had playing games to learn English. Another was hanging out with the whole family listening to them speak Spanish and trying to figure our what they were saying!
I was surprised that…. Everyone drives everywhere and there are tons of taxis.
The most difficult thing I experienced was…. Coming up with creative interactive games and lessons with limited resources.
My best received lesson…People everywhere here will welcome with open arms and compassion an that if you have a positive attitude it will affect others, like my students positively.
Tip for future volunteers… (Clothing, travel, personal items, donations, sightseeing etc) Bring lesson plans and material for many students. Also, travel every weekend. Copan, Utila. Honduras is an incredible country. Keep an open mind.
Personal Paragraph (Testimonial): I am so happy I came to La Ceiba. I loved teaching in a school here and living with a family. It sparked my interest to travel more + work with children around the world.
How would you rate your experience working with the ABV staff, both in the USA, and in-country? Very easy to work with. Willing to answer all questions quickly.
How would you describe your accommodation ( ie: host family, on-site, shared housing etc) My host family welcomed me with open arms from day 1. I felt at home and comfortable my entire visit, they felt like family from the beginning.
Are you willing to speak to other potential ABV volunteers? Yes.
