My Favorite Memory: Seeing the looks of the children at the school for the first time, they were so happy and smiley! I will never forget their welcome.
I was surprised that… my trip turned out to be a life changing experience! I learned so much from the people of Kenya! Their friendly personalities and determination to keep moving forward was an inspiration to me.
The most difficult thing I experienced was…. seeing the poverty of the people. I realized how truly blessed I am!
My best received lesson… To always be happy. The children at the school were so content with playing simple games like hopscotch and soccer, it made me think of the simple things in my life that make me happy.
Tip for future volunteers… (Clothing, travel, personal items, donations, sightseeing etc) Go with an open mind, no expectations. Bring lots of bug spray and sunscreen, and wait to buy donations until you see what the projects need when you arrive.
Personal Paragraph (Testimonial) I am so glad I decided to go on this trip to Kenya! I have learned so much from the people, and enjoyed the beautiful beaches and country of Kenya. I know that I volunteered my time and went to help the people, but they taught me so much more then I could ever teach them! Their attitudes and strength make me hope I can be like them some day.
Are you willing to speak to other potential ABV volunteers? Yes, through email, but not through other forms of contact like phone or mail.
